Tripadvisor is the biggest site for hotel and hospitality with hundreds of millions of visitors every month and more than 500 million reviews
1 in 3 diners wouldn’t choose to eat in a restaurant with an overall Tripadvisor rating below 4 on a scale of 1 to 5.
This is especially true when diners are travelling whether on business or pleasure as they do not know the city so well.
32 percent of consumers need to read 4 to 6 reviews before putting enough trust in a business. (7 percent need to read 20!)
People looking for a restaurant to dine in are likely to consult TripAdvisor and read what others have said about it.
TripAdvisor’s Popularity Index
To rank businesses, TripAdvisor uses a “Popularity Index” that determines guest satisfaction with the restaurant so it won’t just be ranked by price or class, but instead quality, quantity and how recent the reviews are.
This ranking allows customers to know not only if the restaurant fits their budget, but also how users rate the cleanliness, safety, the service, the standard of food and more.
Each search is ranked by quality and is calculated by the Popularity Index to ensure that reviews will be fresh and unbiased.

The Restaurant is situated in one of the rooms of a fully restored private mansion dating back to 1657 and is one of the very first structures built in the old fortified Spanish city. The original walls and arches are skillfully blended into a cosy dining and bar area. We have now expanded further into the old house and now offer private dining

Another excellent meal – more people need to know about Grapes!
Grapes restaurant is a hidden secret on the edge of the Casco Viejo, close to the Presidential Palace. Since my last visit, the restaurant has changed the layout of its covers and has installed a piano, where musicians entertain diners during the weekend.
The menu is varied and extensive, offering a range of excellent fayre from steak to ceviche. The wine list is very good and the pre-dinner cocktails are prepared by an excellent mixologist.
Grapes is not somewhere I would go every night, but for a special occasion, a weekend treat, or for a quiet meal with friends where good food, service and surroundings are key, it would be top of my list.
We Love Grapes!
We visited Grapes with a group of 24 travelers on an adventure travel trip. They did an excellent job handling our drinks and orders while gracious and welcoming. Food was wonderful and the piano accompaniment was very much appreciated. Lovely evening.
